I’m not much of a blogger. I tend to go do whatever it is I’m trying to do, and full send when I’m finished. My process is pretty much hyper-focus and aggressive hammer it in until it works. Not much of a “jot down your steps and thoughts” type of guy. It does feel like it’s time for that to change. Not that there are a lot of eyes on me by any means, but in an effort to provide a public-facing product I realize that there should be some insight into the process as it develops.

I am currently transferring the core SRD of These Lucky Stars from a word document to the website. I’ve learned quite a bit along the way between game development, website building, and deciding what to do with Sword in Board as a whole and These Lucky Stars as a system.

The latter was the easier of the two. I’m pushing forward, even if just for the thrill of publishing something. You can track progress on the roadmap. We are currently nearing the end of phase one.

As for Sword in Board, well. I just can’t part with the name. I’ve used it twice for different concepts and see no reason to be rid of it. Sword in Board Workshop will be the hub for my projects, as both a publishing entity and a host for smaller items that lack their own proper home.

What have I learned so far? I’ve learned that the hardest part about designing this system has been accounting for leveling up. I’ve learned a bit about web development and learned — repeatedly — that I have very little time at my disposal. Balance is key, as it always is. Maybe I’ll dive into it at another time. For now, I mostly wanted to get a post in, a quick note to say I’m here, and show there’s a real person behind the nonsense.

Welcome to the Workshop.
